Your All-or-Nothing Mentality Is Killing Your Long-Term Progress
Your all-or-nothing mentality is killing your long-term progress.
You need to change this flawed mentality if you’re looking to get the results you want, reach your goals, and continue to improve.
Remember, you don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be consistent.
It’s better to be 85% on 100% of the time, than 100% on 85% of the time.
You know what I mean by this all-or-nothing mentality. You either know people like this, or this is you right now.
They’re either 100% compliant, or they’re operating at a level of effort and focus that just isn’t enough to produce significant results.
They often think if they can go all out short-term, it’ll get them to where they want to be, but they’re overestimating how much can be achieved short-term, and underestimating how much can be done in the long-term.
They have this idea that if it can’t be done perfectly, it shouldn’t be done at all.
This cyclical pattern of being all in, or hardly in, leaves people frustrated that they aren’t getting the results they want.
Their goals always seem so far away, out of reach, and they never seem to get any closer.
When they’re on, they’re on.
But when one little thing doesn’t go quite as planned or motivation drops even just a little, they let it completely throw them off course, they lose focus, and now they’re doing the opposite of making progress—they’re regressing.
They’re constantly taking 2 steps forward, then 2 steps back with their all-or-nothing approach. Or maybe even 1-2 steps forward, but then 3 steps back.
Think about how much further you’d get if you consistently took a bunch of small steps in the right direction, gradually getting closer to your goals.
If you had the patience and discipline to stick it out when things get tough, don’t go to plan, or when motivation drops. All of those things will happen. It’s how you handle them that matters.
The good news? YOU are in control of this.
You can make the change that’s needed right now.
What’s it gonna take for you to stop the frustrating cycle of being all in, or hardly in at all?
Once you can do that, you’ll be well on your way to getting closer to your goals, and being more satisfied with the results you’re seeing.
